George, Sam, and Rameck
When Rameck says he wants to give back, he means he wants to give something someone else gave him like courage and wisdom. Rameck wants to give other children like him a chance to be successful also. I do agree with him giving back because he is wanting to help people. If everyone gave back something like the few kind words the denist gave George most people would be encouraged and want to do something better.
ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck talks about giving back, I think that he is talking about his old community. He is also talking about giving back to those who helped him get to where he is now. It is my assertion, that Rameck should give back. It was those hard times that he had in the community, which made him stronger, and a believer of the fact that he could get out. He did not have to end up like the rest of the people in his community, and not be successful. Those who helped him should receive a praise for what helped him achieve.

If i was in his shoes i would give back to my community because it is the right thing to do. Alot of people always want to have the things that are good when they are growing up if i was famous i would make sure that the bpeople have bthose things.

The place that made him who he is. he wants to give a little peice of himself to others so they can have some of the same success he has. I do agree with him on giving back this is something i believe all people should do. If you are blessed you should bless someone else.
ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck talks about giving back he's talking about giving something positive back to the place where he came from, and if he can't do that even just maybe one person. He wants to be able to help somebody or everybody that was like him when he was younger. He wants to make a differnece in somebody life. He wants for the people who remind him of himself when he was younger to have a better life, and if he could he wants to be the one who makes that young kid life better then what his was. I think Rameck gave back when him and his friends went to the schhol distract and started a prostest, about not having African American History at their schools. No he didnt give back something such as money ,but they did help to give knowledge to those who didn't know about African American History at that time, so I think for him that was something big.
ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck talks about giving back he is talking about his community. He want the kids to have a chance to get an education just like he was. And yes I agree with him for doing this. I would also give back to my community and push kids to go farther in life.
ReplyDeleteRameck talks about giving back to the community. He wants to be a good example for kids especially growing up in poor communities. He wants these kids to have an oppurtunity to be successful. Along with Sam and George,thats why they started that mentoring program,Ujima, in their freshman year of college. I do agree with Rameck for giving back to the community. All kids need is endurance and good examples to refer to so that they can succeed.

Yes, i agree because it is the place where you grew up and you don't want it to be bad you always want your community to get better instead of it getting worse.
ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck is talking about “Giving Back”, he means that to the people that have given him the chance to become successful. He, in his life, lack a good male mentor to look up to, so he use those people’s gifts that he is given to become a great mentor for kids living in poor communities. That’s why he started the program, Ujima, which tutors and reads to the elementary kids, giving them a chance of what he did not receive during his life as an elementary student. He also quotes, “…-when you touch another person’s life, the gift keeps on multiplying.” An example would be George’s 3rd grade teacher. She not only made a difference in George’s life, but also in Sam’s and Rameck’s.
ReplyDeleteI think that when Rameck is talking about "Giving Back" he talking about his community from where he comes and tries to do right. I agree because i was always told "you should never forget where you come from" and you should go back and help out the place where you lived.
ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck talks about giving back he’s talking about making his community positive. I do agree with Rameck because it’s his home and he wants to make the best of it by helping out the community and having children without fathers to have a male role model in their life.
ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck is talking about giving back, I believe he is talking about his community, where he was raised, the kids and such. I do agree with Rameck, because even though he might not have been raised in the most extravagant of places or the best neighborhood (future talking) he will make something out of himself. He actually wants to give back, and thats what I would do.
ReplyDeleteBy "Giving back" Rameck means that he wasn't able to get everything in life that he needed but he has made it in life far and he wants to give back to others that have a dream like he did, and he wants others to have everything that they need to be successful in life.I do agree with this because if i knew someone who had a dream in life and trying to make something of theirselves then I would want to help them to succeed and make life easier for them by giving back.

He wants to give back to others that have a dream like he did, and he wants others to have everything that they need to be successful in life. I do agree with his because as for me I love to help people. I help around in my church by collecting money for the poor. So what Rameck is doing is very going.

If I'm stable enough to do so. If I can't give back to my whole community I would like to just make one person life better.

ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck talks about giving back, he means giving back to his distroyed comminity. By "giving back", he means mentoring a child. Carla believes that giving back to the community will help kids stay off the streets and help them build a better future. i agree with him.

He wants to do this so he can help the kids in his neighborhood have a chance at growing up in their neighbor hood with a good education.And I strongly agree with what Rameck and his friends were trying to do with Ujima.

ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck talks about giving back he is talking about giving back to the community in which he came from. He wants to do this because he wants the children in his old neighborhood to stay positive and out of trouble. I completely agree with this because this helps keep the younger children headed in a positive direction and keeps them out of trouble. A lot of people did some good things for him in the past so he figures that others would need the help that he recieved when he was younger.

Yes, i think this is good because he is trying to help make a difference in his community to help people.

He wonts it to be a community were you can see yourself going to college and do what is right. I do agree with him because being apart of a community were you are incouraged to go to college and be successful is important.

He wants children to be able to have the same opportunities he had. I agree with Rameck because there aren't that many people that would go back to there community to help the children of the future.

All the people that made a difference in his life was very generous and kind, so he decided to give back I also agree with Rameck because giving back to the people that help is a good thing and a generous thing
ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck talk about giving back, he talks about giving back to the community and those who help you. He wants to encourage and push people to be something in life like people had pushed him to be where he is today. I agree with Rameck 100%. I think that people should give back to the community and people that helped him because it's the right thing to do. Like Rameck says in the book "People should give even if they are selfish because there are selfish reasons to give."
ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck means giving back, I'm pretty sure he means giving people from your indigineous area a gift they don't have. For example, giving back the gift of learning. The gift of learning is invaluable and vital. It can help the people of certain communities learn and grow to become succesful. If Rameck was to give the kids of his native area the gift of learning it would illuminate the dark shroud of ignorance and indifference sorrounding them and motivate them. I agree with Rameck's statement about giving back. It can help people grow mentally, and improve upon themselves.
ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck is talking about giving back, he is talking about giving help and encouragement to people the same way he had help and also so he can give back to his community. I think Rameck has a point when saying that he should give people and be generous. People were there for him in his life and helped him out. Everyone should feel like they have someone there for them just like he did.
ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck said he wanted to give back, he meant that he wants to be able to offer things to the poor children in his community that he would have wanted as a child; now that he has become successful and full of energy, he can put that energy to good use. He started a program called “Ujima”, which allows him to tutor and help the children at certain elementary schools in poor neighborhoods. Rameck wanted to do this because “when you touch another person’s life, the gift keeps on multiplying” (first paragraph on Pg. 139). Throughout Rameck’s life, people have generously given their time, skills, and money to help him succeed. Now, he would like return the favor to his community by acting as the male role model that seems to be missing in the majority of the average young boy in a poor neighborhood. I believe that everyone should give as much as they could, give back to the community and people that you have used and created success from; give back so that the next generation in that community will succeed.

ReplyDeleteRameck is thankful for the generosity of the people throughout his life who gave him support, money, skills, and more in order to succeed even though they had busy lives. When Rameck discusses about "Giving Back," he wants to return the aid he had received to other childrens who especially are growing up in poor communities. I completely agree with Mary Nghe especially about the phrase in page 139.("When you touch another person's life, the gift keeps on multiplying.)This is basically why Sam, George, and Rameck created a program called Ujima during their freshmen year in college that will soon later be called the Three Doctors Foundation. Giving a sense of determination to kids and helping them realize a big dream is a remarkable gift that should multiply as time pass. Rameck's friends and other people in his life that helped made a difference in his life are probably proud of him and he will most likely never forget those gifts he received. I hope to give to others in a similar way one day.

He wants to help the children, similar to how he wanted help as a child. Rameck is now a successful and superior doctor he can now give back to his community. Mr. Hunt started a program called “Ujima”, which give the opportunity to kids to get tutored and help the children at underprivileged neighborhood schools. Rameck said, “When you touch another person’s life, the gift keeps on multiplying” this is why he started his program. During Rameck’s life people have liberally give him the things he needed to become successful. Rameck is now trying to be a role model for the kids in his old neighborhood so they can grow up to be successful. I think what he is doing is magnificent and those kids should take advantage of the help and do something outstanding with their life.

For example, like Peter said Carla helped him out a bunch meaning maybe by giving back he could be a "Carla" to someone else. Ci agree 100% with giving back because there is always someonevin a more worse situation than you.

He wants to go back set examples for the younger children. He wants to show the kids that you can be something in life. ReplyDeleteI think that when Rameck was talking about giving back, this was a thoughtful idea. Most people forget about their past and whre they came from when they get rich and/or famous. Rameck was talking about giving back to his community. He was probrably thankful that his community didn't get him caught up or take him away from his dream. By giving back, he can inspire other young people into choosing the right path and always being in charge of their own future.

ReplyDeleteWhat Rameck means by "giving back" he simply talks about the things that one person can give another to make them greatful. There are so many things you can do for someone who has done plenty of things for you, in your time of need. I agree with him when he says, "When you touch someone elses life, the gist keeps on multiplying." The smallest things you can do for someone could end up being the turning point in their life and might even change the road direction that they are already in.

Like himself, He wants to give back and help to lives better. He wants to give children dreams and to help them come true just like his. He wants to be a mentor for children make them stronger. ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck talks about "giving back", hes saying he wants to do for the people in his community who have done for him. He knows that he would never have made it this far without his positive influences and a good head on his shoulders. By wanting to "give back", this shows that Rameck never took the littlest good deeds in life for granite, and he is the type of person that thinks of things as, "its the thought that counts" opposed to "i just dont like it". Yes, i do agree with Rameck because this makes him a good person. If he were to just move on without his family and others, he would seem selfist and ungrateful. When i get somewhere in lift one day, i will remember everyone who has never doubted me and thank them, and i will also remember those who doubted me and laugh in there face, just like Rameck would do.

When you change a person life, they can change a person life. Giving back to the community is a great thing and might change or help somebody life and that person might do same. ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck speaks about "Giving Back", he is referring to the under prvialaged children in the community, where he went through similar situations. Rameck knows how hard it was growing up aroubd all the negavtive people, drugs,violence, etc. Rameck was blessed enough to have good friends in his life to help him succeed and had a great oppurtunity to go to college, even though he didn't have a father in his life. I agree with Rameck. Giving back is good even if you did had it good while growing up. Giving back is also good because it means that you care and that you didn't forget where you came from.

He wants to show them that its more to life then just in the streets and you don't have to do what everybody else, maybe their friends, do they can be better if they can just believe.

ReplyDelete"Giving back" as Rameck says, is his way of saying that he wants to help the African American community in his neighborhood, to inspire them to succeed even if they are in some sort of situation, because he wants them to know that in his life situation, he still worked hard and strived to succeed, and if he can do they can as well. He wants them to believe that they can do whatever they set their minds to if they tried, even if it is a struggle, because life doesn't come easy.
ReplyDeleteI believe when Rameck talks about giving back, he means he wants to be able to help someone else the way people helped him and always pushed him to do good things, because he was surrounded by gang members and drug dealers meant he could've become one easily, but with good influences, like the ones he had, he was pushed through school, and is now able to "Give Back" as an adult.

ReplyDeleteWhat Rameck means by saying he wants to "give back", all he means is that he feels the people who helped him acheive his goal and influenced him throughtout the toughest years of his life deserve something in return. I don't mean this as literally but figuratively. He wants to give back by setting an example for others to follow in his success in achieving his life goal. He's giving back proof that it is possible to become someone nomatter what your childhood is like.
